Power Flow
Our spiciest offering! Power Flow is a challenging and rewarding practice suitable for practitioners of all levels. When practiced regularly, you’ll create accelerated results in your overall body strength and confidence. The class begins with sun salutations, linking breath and movement, to build internal fire and heat. Then, you’ll increase vitality through crescent lunges and twists, find equanimity through balancing poses, experience grounding, and ignite your spine in backbends. We’ll finish up with floor-based stretches and the opportunity to be still and let the whole practice settle into your bones. Classes are 60 or 75 minutes and the studio is heated to 90 degrees. (If we are experiencing extreme summer heat, we’ll drop the studio temp to 80.)
Haven’t been to Power Flow before? That’s totally alright — beginners are welcome! Come on in, and give it a shot — this is a safe place to try new things.
Vin/Yin
Medium spice! Half vinyasa flow, half yin yoga. Come have a full-spectrum yoga experience with this crowd favorite. This class combines Power Flow with the benefits of passive yin postures. We spend the first half of class breaking a sweat in Power Flow, then we move to the floor for seated and reclined yin poses designed to tone the connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments. Arise feeling renewed, restored, and ready for the rest of your day. Studio temperature is heated to 90 degrees. (If we are experiencing extreme summer heat, we’ll drop the studio temp to 80.)
Yin Yoga
Super mild spice. Yin yoga is known as the quiet yoga. Many of the most popular forms of yoga are fundamentally “yang” in nature, based on rhythmic movement of the breath and muscles. Yin yoga, in contrast, tones and nourishes connective tissue (facia, joints, ligaments, and tendons), which can enhance flexibility, range of motion, and overall physical wellbeing.
Postures are practiced seated or reclined on the floor, and each is held for a period of 3 to 15 minutes. Yin is a discovery-based yoga practice accessible to all backgrounds and body types that teaches us to relax, connect, and accept the present moment. It utilizes longer holds in the poses, which allows for more focused energy medicine to be practiced or received. For example, meditation, breathwork, acupressure, reiki, yoga nidra, and other healing modalities can be explored while in the yin shapes. As a result, you can access a balanced state, and your body can be energized with a new flow of prana or lifeforce.
Beginners, and all, are welcome. Studio kept at a moderate, comfortable temperature
Soulful Flow
Medium spice. A playful flowing journey working stability and mobility, strength and ease. Soulful Flow moves at a slightly slower pace than our Power Flow classes, which creates rich opportunities to try on some new moves, transitions, and poses -- all with support and guidance. Requests taken at the beginning of class.
Beginners, and all, are welcome. Studio heated to 80 degrees.
Healing Flow
Mild to medium spice. This class format offers a lot of variety and focuses on creating space for natural healing of the body through moving energy, strengthening the core, improving balance, and releasing tension. Movements will be paced with the breath to start, with longer holds to lengthen tight muscles, nourish connective tissue, and provide deep mental relaxation. More modifications are offered than in our Power Flow classes, and the holds are shorter than in our Yin classes. This class is accessible to all levels of physical conditioning and experience and is ideal for beginners, athletes, seniors, and pre- and post-natal students.
Beginners, and all, are welcome. Studio kept at a moderate, comfortable temperature.
Restorative Yoga
A super chill offering. Restorative Yoga promotes complete rest with no load placed on the body through the practice of postures supported by bolsters and other props. We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. Restorative Yoga poses help us learn to relax, rest deeply, and cultivate health and wellbeing while working toward freeing ourselves, little-by- little and breath-by-breath, from physical tension.
Beginners, and all, are welcome. Studio kept at a moderate, comfortable temperature.
Gentle Chair Yoga
Mild spice. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga practiced while sitting on a chair or standing on the ground and using the chair for support. Chair yoga participants enjoy all the benefits of other forms of yoga, including improved muscle tone and mobility, increased breath capacity, stress reduction, better sleep, and an improved sense of wellbeing -- all without having to get up and down from the ground. These classes are free to the community/by donation and sponsored by our non-profit arm, the Namaspa Foundation. Join us at Discovery Park Lodge Senior Living Community on Thursdays at 11:30am-12:30pm (address: 2868 NW Crossing Dr.; Bend, OR 97703).
Yoga Nidra
Our most chill offering. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practiced while laying down and supported by any desired props. It helps calm the mind and relieve stress and is designed to help us to move into stillness and dedicate time to being nourished. The meditative tools offered during a Yoga Nidra session or class help us reach states of deep relaxation and rest, improve quality of sleep, and calm the nervous system. It is called "yogic sleep," though it is not exactly sleep as we typically think of it; rather, it is a way to access brain wave states and a level of relaxed wakefulness that is actually even more restorative than sleep. Yoga Nidra is often incorporated into Restorative and Yin Yoga classes, sound baths, and various workshops.
Beginners, and all, are welcome.
Recovery Yoga
Embracing both the universal wisdom in the 12 Steps and yogic teachings, this class allows time for participants to share about wherever you are on your journey, so you can move toward finding more peace in your body and mind. The class will include some Yin Yoga poses, Yoga Nidra guided meditations, readings, and a check in. Anyone on the path to recovery is welcome, and this class is suitable for beginners to yoga and meditation. The class is free and confidential (we don't require signing in with names or class passes). Donations are welcomed to benefit the Namaspa Foundation.
Power Beats
Spicy and fun! A twist on our signature Power Flow classes with upbeat music played throughout -- like a fun dance party melding with heat-building vinyasa. Power Beats is a light-hearted class with less emphasis on alignment and more emphasis on exploration and playfulness. But with Power Flow as the structure, it's still a challenging and rewarding practice, and is suitable for practitioners of all levels.
Beginners, and all, are welcome. Studio is heated to 90 degrees. (If we are experiencing extreme summer heat, we’ll drop the studio temp to 80.)
Kids Yoga
Did you know Namaspa hosts the longest running kids yoga classes in Central Oregon?!
Our kids classes (open to kids ages 3 and up) run in tandem with adult classes and in a separate and dedicated kid-friendly space, so parents can practice while their kids spend time with other kids and one of our certified kids yoga instructors.
Kids will make friends and explore the healthy benefits of yoga for their body, mind, and spirit through activities like: yoga poses, calming breath work, mindfulness games, playful sun salutations, moving like animals, interactive stories, rest and integration time (savasana), and age-appropriate discussions about kindness, nonviolence, and how we everybody can learn how to "live" yoga.
