Let's Talk About Yoga Teacher Training

Updated: Feb 25, 2022

Hi. My name is Rebecca Vallie-George, and I’m a graduate of Namaspa’s 2019/2020 TRUE U 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training. If you’re interested in becoming a yoga teacher or deepening your yoga knowledge, you’re in the right place. I’m here to share my experience in YTT and hopefully answer some of your questions along the way.

I’ve been practicing yoga since the late seventies before it caught on as mainstream popular in the West. Yoga has been in my heart for decades! And like many yogis, there have been times when I didn’t practice for days, weeks, even months... but each time I returned to my practice, it was beyond refreshing. Over the years, yoga has become a constant in my life; I know I can always come back to my practice, and it will always welcome me in.

In 2019, I decided I wanted to expand my yoga experience and learn how to teach. When I enrolled in Namaspa’s program, the instructors at the studio told me it would be an amazing experience that I would never forget. I have to admit, my first thought was, “That’s it?” It was like when you tell somebody about a great movie, and you don’t want to ruin the story, so you tell them just enough to pique their interest. Well, my interest was piqued. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was curious, excited, and looking forward to the unknown.

And let me tell you, I had no idea just how much I would learn. This program is about so much more than just the physical poses. Yes, Baptiste Yoga is a workout. Yes, it’s moving, practicing, and sweating your tail off. And though, it’s way more than just the asanas; it’s a lifestyle.

YTT not only guided me through the physical practice, it also taught me how to be a better person and walk through life with grace and resilience. It brought me to a deeper level of understanding myself. The program encouraged me to be a better model for others too — for my daughter, my husband, family members, colleagues, and friends.

For me, learning how to teach yoga was my primary goal, but my biggest takeaway from this program was my personal growth. YTT was magical. Being with other like-minded humans was so special. It was the deep wisdom and the growth that helped me break through all the bullshit on my mat and in my life. YTT helped me to see what I hadn’t seen before. It deepened my practice. It introduced me to new friends. It helped me grow stronger physically, emotionally, and mentally.

And now I’m a Namaspa Yoga Teacher! Through this experience, I was challenged, I had breakthroughs, I learned a lot about yoga, life, philosophy, history, and teaching. But most of all, I learned about myself.

Now I ask you, what do you want right here, right now? Do you want to know more about yoga and all that comes with it? Well, take the leap! I call it jumping off the bridge and building your wings as you fall. You’ll become a better human, mom, dad, friend, teacher, and confidant. The entire experience will transform your life in a profoundly positive way.

I recommend Namaspa’s 200hr Yoga Teacher Training both personally and professionally. I have been in the fitness industry for over 30 years, and I assure you, this program WILL change you for the better. You will come out of this training with an abundance of knowledge, wisdom, and practical application. You can do with it what you want, but you will come out of this YTT a different person.

In my opinion, Namaspa Yoga teachers are the best teachers in the world. Soon, if you are brave enough to take the leap, you’ll know why I feel this way.

Namaste, my friends.

-- Rebecca
