ACTIVE STRETCH & MASSAGE
with Patrick Kincart of BendBodyWorks
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a muscle stretching and strengthening technique that allows for a gradual, gentle stretch of the specific muscles to maximize its length, flexibility and power. Also known as the Mattes Method, AIS was developed some 40 years ago by Aaron Mattes, a Florida kinesiologist. This technique restores the greatest level of function to the muscles, tendons, vertebrae, ligaments, and joints. One of its most important benefits is that AIS promotes stronger superficial and deep muscle fascial structures, which can create greater overall power through increased flexibility and strength.
AIS has been described, as “assisted therapeutic stretching,” since the trained practitioner coaches the patient to more effectively and gently stretch a muscle that he or she may have thought was inflexible. Once learned, these stretching skills can be used by the patient to stretch daily at home.

MASSAGE WITH KRISTI KASKO
Kristi's education and passion for massage therapy and the healing arts began in 1998, when she became a certified massage therapist upon completing her training at Starfire Massage School & Healing Center in Missoula, Montana. Her practice includes various spa, clinical, and private practice settings both here in the States & in Europe during her 13 years living overseas. Kristi's sessions integrate Swedish flow, Deep Tissue Massage, Thai, Neuromuscular Therapy, & Acupressure with a deep energetic component. She is certified in Aromatherapy & enjoys offering Pre-natal massage as well. In Hungary, Kristi also studied Core Energetic & Spiritual Body Clearing. She also offers energetic healing sessions focused on clearing the energetic bodies, chakra balancing, auric cleansing, combined with Reiki.
Kristi's massage: She offers the client an experience that is individualized, sensitive, adaptive in technique crossing modalities tailoring to the need, nurturing but powerful and with flow. Her sessions are focused on leaving the client more deeply connected with themselves, more at home in their body, enjoying less restrictive pain free movement.
Kristi says, " I have the ability to give a very deep massage while maintaining a very fluid and nurturing touch. Massage asks me to bring my full presence and awareness with another in the moment, listen, & respond. My goal is to help the body remember its healthful state, to be a facilitator of the healing process. I am so grateful to be doing this work!"
In her free time, Kristi enjoys the outdoors, time with her family, hiking and kayaking, the world of dance as a performer, music and rhythm.
Kristi is available at Namaspa Bend on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Please call her at 814-384-2980 to schedule an appointment.
MASSAGE WITH KELLY PALECHEK (REDMOND)
I studied massage therapy at East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon. Having been a Reiki practitioner since 2008, I believe just as much in metaphysical causations to ailments as I do in environmental and situational ailments. Therefore, my belief in healing represents the duality of Eastern and Western approaches.
Before massage therapy, I received my BA in Professional Writing at Salem State University in Massachusetts, and was a Literacy Specialist for 6 years.
Massage Modalities: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Reiki, Craniosacral, and Reflexology.
MASSAGE WITH MOON KOAN (REDMOND)
Moon discovered in her teenage years that she had a knack for hands on healing. She encountered Reiki and yoga by age 17 and never looked back. After a car accident, she left behind her treasured nomadic lifestyle to begin formally studying various healing modalities through the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Colorado in 2006. She has been going full speed ahead ever since. Some of the techniques she offers include Hot Stone, Pren-natal, Acupressure, Myo-Fascial Release, Sports, Injury Rehabilitation, Reflexology, Reiki, Swedish, Polarity Therapy and more. She has a background in Holistic Nutrition, Qi Gong, and Hypnotherapy. Her current mode of study includes Tuina which is a form of massage that is complementary to Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as Oncology Massage. She is volunteering at St Charles once a week to provide Reiki treatments in the Cancer Wing. Her almost 20 years of experience on a yoga mat has developed a deep appreciation of the power of connecting the body to the mind. Namaspa is the first yoga studio she has offered her practice through and the excitement to work with other yogis is palpable.
“What I am passionate about is training in treatment modalities so that when the moment comes, I can forget what I learned, get my mind out of the way and allow my body to respond to the client’s body and just be present to what is needed. Massage is much like art in that one trains in order to forget and allow the spirit of creativity, connection and beauty to manifest in a safe and educated way. It is an honor to work with the public that I take seriously. My aim is to be impeccably present to what is needed and to provide the sort of container that the most healing can manifest within. I believe in constantly engaging the parasympathetic nervous system and coaxing out the calming hormones regardless of what kind of deep work needs to be done, for in relaxation is where healing can be found. Deep work can be done without causing pain when it is done with consciousness. To me it is always a fascinating challenge to discover how to help provide this space in the best way possible for each unique client I encounter. I love doing what I do and every facet of my life reflects this passion.”
Moon is also a member of a sweat lodge community that has a lineage into the Lakota and Choctaw traditions of ceremony. Spirituality for her is the key to all transformation. Her drive and single pointed focus in life is to be able to provide to herself and the world around her the support needed to make the world a better place, of course.
